Grant Kaveney established GKR London back in 2010, but what did we look like then?
Well… Grant! Setting up on his own was a lifestyle choice for Grant having spent eight years or so within a corporate recruitment agency up until this point. For three years he worked comfortably with several loyal clients in estate agency who kept the books ticking along and him busy. In 2012 following several client meetings and various chats, Grant decided to push the business onto the next level and engaged in exploratory conversations with a private equity business specialising within recruitment. He soon realised that with his market knowledge and reputation within the sector, the business had serious scalability and he pushed on with Recruitment Entrepreneur putting in place a strong board of specialists within the recruitment space.
What do we look like now?
There are now eighteen of us based at Sloane Avenue, Chelsea and we recruit across the entire property market. Back in 2010 and through to 2014, we focussed on the sales & lettings industry working with estate agents. Now we have a team of five commercial consultants too, looking at anything from Project Management, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Investment and Land roles working with client-side companies, office agency clients and consultancy practises. We also have specialists looking at the Interior Architectural & Design and General Practice positions both interim and permanent. On top of that we have an Executive Search specialist, an office support and property management team as well as a business development director opening further doors for us in areas we are expanding into. We’re no longer just ticking a long – we’re going full speed ahead!
What have we achieved in the last 12 months?
In the last 12 months, we have helped more than 300 people develop their careers in the property industry, we’ve been exclusively retained on 12 separate occasions and we’ve broken and smashed interview records on several occasions. The team have worked extremely hard to achieve their success and have been rewarded with an excellent commission structure and various incentives we put in place at the beginning of 2016; we have now hosted over 25 Top Billers lunches, arranged 5 trips abroad and purchased over 150 Starbucks coffees, 170 Sainsburys meal deals and almost 50 cupcakes to reward the team for their efforts!
What is to come?
Although we have taken on three new starters just last month, we are actively recruiting for at least two more experienced recruitment consultants interested in the Residential and the Office support market. For the team it’s going to be a great summer, we have our summer party next week and the Recruitment Entrepreneur wider bash during the beginning of August. We’ve also recently attended in a fantastic event kicking off the opening of the RE Manchester office. Grant met with some very interesting recruiters and market experts and we’re excited to continue to learn and expand into new areas.
