Taking Property by storm.


GKR London (a property recruitment agency) work in servicing businesses across London and our phones are currently ringing, off the hook! Yet almost every headline we read recently looks a little like this:

“Sales being cancelled” “Never been so stagnant” “How will London continue?”

People are being negative. Property is ‘looking’ negative. Property Recruitment on the other hand is most positive! You would have thought the latter two went hand in hand; if property really is as negative as it sounds, why ‘Mr Client’ do you need three new additions to your team?

People are still hiring which means they are growing and surely that means the market continues to demand more from them. Where is the communication breakdown?

This year so far, GKR London have worked with at least 240+ companies successfully assisting them with their recruitment needs. Our record month in February saw 38 very happy candidates begin their new jobs. We have also met with and interviewed several industry professionals interested to make the move into property recruitment with three new starters joining us this month! We recruit into Residential Estate Agency, Property Management, Office & Business Support, New Homes, Development, Commercial Surveying & Project Management. We are feeling the heat of the summer and we couldn’t be more excited!

Residential Estate Agency - On this desk alone, we currently have almost 250 positions available now! Month after month the residential team have succeeded their targets working in a heavily competitive market. Between our business development teams, we have met with 35 new clients in the past week! We have been able to offer insight into market trends and advise our clients how to remain up to date and reduce the risk of losing talent to their competitors.

Property Management – We have partnered with many clients this year to strengthen their property management teams as well as sourcing external consultants to assist with changes taking place in the law. It is vital that management teams receive the correct training to deliver the right service in line with changes to legislation. A lot of our clients’ management portfolios are growing rapidly and they need us to help them keep up!

Office & Business Support – If your back-office teams aren’t functioning efficiently, the front office often trails behind. Our team have experienced a steady demand of skills needed this year and as a result, salaries have increased from last year. As technology improves, contact centers and customer service teams are also growing and in need of staff who can utilise new technologies effectively. Not only permanent staff, but temporary and professional interim workers too.

New Homes/Development – PRS is hotting up! The number of new homes in London has reached an all-time peak this year and has forecasted a record-breaking amount of 46,500 homes. GKR are busy recruiting Site Sales Consultants, Project Managers, Customer Service Managers etc. working with several developers to ensure smooth delivery and aftercare. We are also very busy working with consultancies across the UK in need of Building & Quantity Surveyors. 20 million currently privately rent in the UK, an additional 1.8 million households will be renting in the PRS by 2025, accounting for almost one in four British households.

Commercial Property – We have witnessed a shift in the way people are doing business and technology is leading the way! British PropTech startup Hubble stands as a great example having recently landed £1.2m in an investment round led by British investment platform Firestartr; they aim to deliver “instant, intelligent solutions.” We are working with several other disruptive PropTech companies looking for Client & Tenant Representation specialists and Retail Advisors to join their teams.

The market is changing and as a result the figures look differently to this time last year but how we react to the changes is most important. Looking at all the activity taking place, we know it remains positive. The property industry itself is adapting and moving forward, developing more improved strategies to survive and it’s not only surviving, it’s growing!
