What January "blues"?

Don’t get me wrong I know it can be tough getting back into the swing of things; it might be the working routine, visiting the gym again, putting on a fresh face of makeup every day or maybe it’s the smaller meal portions. But there are a lot of other things to look forward to and enjoy during the first few months of the year in order to get over the traditionally expected “blues”, particularly if you are in the market for a new job!

Plenty of opportunities

The property market is full of exciting new opportunities whether you are a trainee or experienced professional; GKR have been instructed on a wide array of positions across all disciplines as of 2020 with hiring and strengthening workforces at the top of many of our client’s agenda’s. The most exciting part about this is the pace of which hiring processes are moving forward so you could well find and secure your dream job in a matter of days!

Mind over matter

Whilst the idea of setting new years resolutions is probably quite daunting to most and otherwise comical to others, the new year provides a great opportunity for self-improvement and this can also be applied collectively amongst peers, colleagues or teams. Setting goals in the workplace as a group is an excellent exercise to overcome existing difficulties, allow for team bonding and ultimately might contribute towards better efficiency, a healthier team or perhaps a nicer office environment – whatever it may be for you.

Another year older, another year wiser

Naturally the new year tends to encourage the idea of reflecting over the previous 12 months; lessons you’ve learnt, areas of improvement, achievements personally and professionally etc. In the office though the new year marks an important time to go over your data for the previous year to identify any yearly and monthly trends or patterns, to compare goals and to leverage heightened success this year. It’s likely that management have already delved into this as a group but as an individual you should be looking into yours too so if you haven’t already, or don’t know how to, ask to be shown!

Write your own job spec

Obviously don’t take this too literally but the likelihood of creating a role specifically for you is much greater at this time of year than the back end. Whilst the recruitment budget is fully intact and/or growth targets remain unreached, a speculative enquiry might be a lot more successful. Of course, these should not be untargeted, nor can they be guaranteed, and it would be advised that you are represented by an agency who can offer you a recommendation. However, if you have a firm interest in working for a specific brand with demonstratable experience in a field that they are not currently advertising, there probably isn’t a better time of year to express your interest anyway!

It’s been a busy start to the year for us and we couldn’t be happier to have helped a number of individuals and clients start their new year the right way already, with their new job and new hire! We have also received several fantastic referrals alongside our referral reward scheme offering up to £250 per successful suggestion and depending on experience. If you know someone we don’t, refer them to our team today!
