The headline on the front page of the Evening Standard earlier this week (January 20th) was, “Housing Market is back with a Bang” and behind the scenes at GKR London this has been felt with full effect.
We are only a few weeks in; however, the phone hasn’t stopped ringing as the turn of the year has marked the busiest start that I can remember with some of the biggest names in property looking to add to their teams across London. There has also been a concerted focus to reinforce Prime Central London Residential offices as there has been a renewed optimism with a planned return of buyers and oversea investors to London’s most expensive postcodes.
With so much information available to us nowadays and I’m confident that many of us love a stat, but all the above can be broken down as seen by a recent article by Rightmove:
- There has been a 2.3% (+£6,785) monthly surge in the average price of property coming to market.
- Nearly 65,000 properties were marketed between the 8th December and the 11th January, so most of them came to market after the 12th December election.
- In the period from 13th December to 15th January, immediately after the election, enquiries to estate agents were up by 15% compared to the same period a year ago.
- This then led to a 7.4% increase in the number of sales agreed over the same period.
